This project started off with rough sketches of what I wanted the final product to be. I decided to choose a dog with a receding fence to go across my laptop with my dog's name across the bottom.
The next steps were to import a picture of my sketch into Rhino. Once the picture was scaled and locked into place I began to trace every single line.
Once all the lines were drawn it was time for a test cut. Many of the test cuts were unsuccessful due to complexity. So in order to still get a vinyl tattoo with my original design simplification was needed. Most of the smaller details had to be removed in order to have a successful tattoo.
I am most pleased with the final product of my vinyl tattoo. Once it was transferred to my laptop it looked awesome. Even with the changes to the design, I am still proud of the final product.
In the future, I would incorporate the position of the vinyl tattoo into the idea. In this vinyl tattoo, I could have ended the fence where the laptop ends to create a better flow within the piece. A more creative/interesting font should have been used as well.
This project taught me how to use rhino a 3D modeling software to turn a sketch into a vinyl sticker/tattoo. The most important step in this process is to have closed lines. Once its cut you have a physical final product to enjoy custom made.
