My chess set was inspired by one which appeared if low resolution and angular. Each piece was constructed by twisting and stretching various pentagons. The end result, when exported with low tolerances, is a low poly version of the original chess set design.
Although the chess pieces turned out exactly as imagined the renderings did not. The renderings could use improvements, they don't do the physical 3D print justice.
This project taught me how to generate a 3D object and create a physical print. Some of the most important ideas to keep in mind are the orientation of printing. In order to create a quality print, minimal support must be used.
If I were to do something different in the future I would alter the original design of the low poly on one of the side. This would keep the design consistent with each "side" but breaks up the repetitiveness of the same design on both teams.
